I need advice on severely abnormal periods, can anyone help? Can't see my doctor until next week!!! Freaking out and would appreciate support. If anyone thinks they can help, let me know and I'll give you the gory details

well, you can't control your periods all by yourself so I'd have to suggest you see your GP.

Well I should imagine lots of us girls (inc. me) have had some abnormal periods. But your question is bound to get everyone asking what's wrong? Glad to help if I can!

if things are that serious you need to see a doctor now - if not, perhaps things have just all become too much and you only need to speak with a friend -why do you have to wait until next week? Any emergency can be sorted at the local casualty department .

Thanx for your replies. I am going to the docs but can't get an appointment til next week. Just wondered if anyone had experienced this.
I am bleeding constantly, it varies between spotting and full bleeding. Once a month I am crippled with pain and can go through more than a large pack of towels a day. I have had several invasive tests that apparantly prove there is nothing wrong, Lately I have been experiencing terrible stabbing pains on the right side that make me feel sick. Any thoughts??

Well I used to have really heavy irregular periods and like you could go through a box of tampons in a day for the first day or 2 of my period, accompanied by severe pain. This happened after having my 3 kids and being sterilised. I was put on the contraceptive pill and that really helped. But do you mean you are bleeding throughout the whole month?

Sounds like it could be Endometriosis. (Where lining of uterus grows abnormally) Your GP should probably send you for a Laparoscopy to investigate further.

It could be anything - have you had a smear recently?
I think if it were me I would insist on a referral to a gynae at the very least

Keep trying to get some answers from your doctor, go and see more specialists, it's not right that you should be suffering like this. Also have blood tests to see if your amount of blood loss is causing anaemia. Maybe you could phone NHS direct as previously suggested while you're waiting for your doctor's appt.

Apart from the odd couple of days I am basically always bleeding. Most of the time it's just light and annoying but sometimes (like tonight) It feels like someones twisting something in the right side and there's a ridiculous amount of blood!! But the doctor said there's nothing wrong!!

Whats your weight & age. Have you had children. What birth control do you use?

Bigmamma I'm 30, I don't know the names of the tests I've had there have been so many, but one involved a large needle scraping a sample from my womb (while awake with no anaesthetic) Believe me I've tried but they keep saying there's nothing wrong.

Did you have your babies naturally or by caesarean? And how long have you been bleeding constantly?

My babies were both natural birth but I did suffer with SPD with my second.
