My daughter had chicken pox 4 years ago, she is now ten, and this evening she has a typical chicken pox rash all over her torso and legs. She does not feel ill and does not have a temperature. When she had chicken pox 4 years ago, so did all the other children in the family so I dont think she was misdiagnosed.

Has anyone any ideas?

Many thanks

My sister, neice and nephew had it twice but much milder than the first time.
I don't know about twice, but I have been told I haven't had it at all, yet my mum remembers me having it (what parent doesn't?). Yet when I had blood tests for an employment-related medical a few years ago, no chickenpox antibodies showed and I had to have a vaccination against it.

It's not unknown for adults to get shingles, even though they've had chickenpox, so I guess even children could get it twice.
I had it as a child then again when i was pregnant.
My Dad never had anything.
I think I had it twice - I def remember the second (i think) time, cos I was about 16, but I am sure I had it younger too... I'll have to ask my Mum!!
You can get it more than once mifta, but as ummmm says, it's often milder the second time round. You can't get chicken pox mixed up with other complaints very easily, because of the type of watery blisters that appear, but these may not be so obvious in a second bout.
My eldest (she was 3 at the time) came out in it whilst I was giving birth to her sister!! Hospital were unsure at first about whether to let me home or not, then decided as I had had it, and was breastfeeding, that baby would be protected by me, and let me come home :-)
ive never had chicken pox, but my brother did when he was younger and never caught it off him ...lucky?
I had chicken pox as a child years later I thought I had it again .. turned out to be a food allergy ...twinny
i`ve had it twice the first as a child.which was very mild.then as a adult which was very severe.my da ughter also had it twice as well.
Awww.....both as bad, probably!

Hi WB. Yep, that can happen can't it? There was an outbreak of German measles in our family, and i was the only child not to get it. I'm naturally immune to it, and only found out when I was pregnant!
Does she have any blisters (big or very small) on her hands, feet or in her mouth?
If she does this could be hand, foot & mouth disease. It is part of the chickenpox group so to speak and children can get spots all over as well.
I work in a nursery and this can be quite common yet when parents have had to go to the doctors for diagnosis very often the doctors haven't known what it is!
There is no treatment for it, it will clear up on its own but it is contagious.
Just a thought anyway!
My niece has had chicken pox several times! Each time it has been milder than the time before, the last time she just had a few spots/blisters.

Thankyou for your replies. Gp says its definately chicken pox again! Fortunately she is fine in herself and enjoying being off school but not being poorly!
it could just be the simple shingles, they are very common to poxs.

i had them when i was 11, yeah its meant to be for adults but no one can say that theres not chance lol :P

they really itched :P and you can get shingles more than once anyone can ! :P

hehe xx
My son has had chickenpox twice once when he was 2 and again when he was 8, both times he was covered in spots and very unwell. I have heard that this is very rare. My younger son who had also had chickenpox previously was covered in a rash, not sure what it was but it wasn't shingles the doctor said.
