pyjama party

hi i just wondered if anyone had ever done a pyjama party for there kids birthday. my son is 3 this year and we are going to have a party at home, i wanted to do something different but wasnt sure what. my older son who will be 4 this year wants a fancy dress party. but i felt that all the kids at the 3rd bday might be a bit young as they get fed up of been stuck in silly outfits,
what does everyone think of a pyjama party? i thought it is something different and clothes the little ones are used to wearing, pus the adults can join in too.

He is a bit young for a sleep over. I wouldn't let my two sleep over at that age and having spoken to other mums they wouldn't either.
So unless his sleepover friends are VERY GOOD family friends I wouldn't do it just yet.
Depending on how many you intend to invite and how much you have to spend then you could hire the local scout hut or something and just have music for dancing. 30 balloons for kicking about and some party games.
At that age they just want a fun time. Not something new and inovative.
You could ask all the children to come in fancy dress and depending on how the mums and dads feel have them swap. Or for them to make up a play with the costumes they have.

I get the feeling that you just mean a party and not a sleepover....not sure if I am right?! At that age the kids like to just wera nice clothes and may be confused about wearing PJ's to go to a party...I think sometimes we try too much!
The best party I ever did was for my daughter when she was 6...all the parties we went to were bouncy castle parties, ball pool parties, splash pool parties, jungle gym parties etc, so I hit on the 'novel' idea of holding a traditional birthday party...proper games, little sandwiches, jelly and ice cream etc, and the kids LOVED it...even the mums admitted they had not been to a normal party for such a long time. We are so busy trying to come up with new and exciting ideas that we forget about the tried and tested formulas that have worked for us in the past. xx
