Hi all,
got an embarrasing problem, i think i have an anal fissure. I remember it starting like 2 years ago, a massive glass like pain when i go to the loo and blood on the toilet paper. But then i didnt have it for ages but past few months ive had pain everytime i go to the loo. I booked to c the doc and the appointment is today, but since ive gone on my healthy eating after new year i havent experience so much pain and no blood. should i stilll go to the docs to confirm that is all it is, or shall i not go/..........

Hope all goes well for you. By the way, do not be embarrased about this either, that's why a lot of people get ill as they think problem is too embarrasing to see a doc - nothing is ever too embarrasing for docs - they see these things every day. Take Care

well jr - nothing too awful - the embarrassment was the worst bit (cos I actually work with the doc in question - strange for one minute to be sat having coffee with him & chatting about the weather & Coldplay's latest... then....). It wasn't even 'finger up the back passage' or anything - just a prod & a good view - enough to satisfy him that it was a fissure & nothing else. He gave me some ointment(s) - Proctosedyl I found to be the best, but there are various others.
It's always best to have these things checked out - could be a fissure, could be piles, doubtful it's anything more serious but never ignore bleeding from the back bits.

salla, my little treasure, the loght of my light....yes we will have to get to the BOTTOM of jr's problem.
My silence: last Thusday night horriffic thunderstorms hit the Balearics and knocked out electricity and telephones. The electricity was soon re-established, but astonishingly connector boxes (can't remember the proper name) suffered and telephone wires decimated...the storm was right above the village and was frightening BUT, back to the only woman in my life...well, barmaid, jogger, cab, sara...etc.

You do need to go to your GP - never put anything like this off - it's not worth the risk.
As for embarassment - I met our new female GP for the first time on just such an appointment. One minute we were shaking hands and saying 'Pleased to meet you ,,.' and three minutes later ...
they don't bother, either should you.

jr....just read your question again...........it is YOU that vis embarrased......all the answers seem to indicate that the embarrassment you describe is on the part of the doctors.
It is natural and normal for the patient to be embarrased.
For the doctor, he oe she can think of better things to do than put on a glove and stick it up someones "bum"

Sorry Jenna!!
Glad you went - now don't forget to apply that cream!
Sqad - thank you for enquiring m'dear - the nipples & breasts are still a little itchy, but not so much as last week. I have refrained from keeping getting them out in front of Keith, so he is much more comfortable in the office. Piriton took off the worst of it, and going bra-less from the minute I get home also helps!
