I just guess i want this off of my chest i am in pieces tonight. We were told this afternoon my nan, who was taken to hospital yesterday following a suspected severe angina attack, has in fact got a torn major blood vessel next to her heart. The operation to fix it only has a 10% success rate. She all so has a mass in her abdomen, which if its like her mother, could be cancer. She is 79, and my idol, i cant bare the thought of loosing her.
my husbands doing his best to take my mind off of it but i cant believe this is happening.

Hi firewatch. I'm sorry you're sad. It really sucks when someone you love is ill. Hope everything goes well, I'll cross my fingers for her x
that's very sad, firewatch. I'm sorry x
Hi Firewatch. I'm really sorry to hear your news, I hope all goes well. She is in very good hands now. All you can do is be with her and keep your hopes up. I'll be thinking of you.
All the best! xxx
So sorry to hear that firewatch, I will think of you and hope for the best for your nan

Hi firewatch, that is very sad to hear that, all you can do is try to remain positive, she is being looked after, it must seem like a nightmare, it has happened so quickly, go visit your nan and chat to her, even if she doesn't answer you just sit and hold her hand and tell her how much you love her, all maybe ok, you must not give up hope, they can do amazing things now, wish you all good luck and hope your nan pulls through, Ray xx

thanx guys, ray i really wish i could, but she is 2 hours away and with the weather we cant get to her, plus i have a stinking cold so they would not let me any where ccu! Im really peeved, it hard because i only saw her last saturday when we were down for the weekend something was not right, i had to cut her food up when we went for a meal, i put it down to her arm (she broke it badly last year falling over her cat and has still not regained full use) but now its something else....
I am at loss what to do, but i know in my heart its not going to be good
Hi firewatch, she really is in the best place to be looked after, that is a positive thing, you really have got to try and look at the positives, in a day or so your cold will be better, can you go to visit her then?, it would be so good if you could manage to get to her at some time, I have no wise words to take away the pain you are feeling, all you can do is keep in touch with whoever is nearest to her untill you can get down to her, but, and I know it is hard, please try to be positive. really do hope all goes well, and remember to look after yourself, that is just as important, you making yourself ill with worry will only make you feel worse. Ray xx

Thanx ray, im crying again after reading your kind words.
She is a fighter i will say that much all ways has been, has to have been living with my granddad for 60 years!
We may pop as soon as we can, but unsure of when that will be.
I am looking at positives, that she is in a local hospital and my dad and granddad can get to see her once they have cleared the lorry/tree out of the way. and my dads at the end of the phone if he needs us.
And i know i have to look after myself, i stress enough as it is i need to remain calm!
firewatch I am not a religious person, but if you would like me to I have very small, very old church near where I live, and I sometimes go in there to think of friends and family that are no longer with me, I will light a candle for your nan, and say a few words in a very tranquil area, but onlly if you want me too. take care, thinking of you and your nan and grandad xx

I would very much appreciate that, i am wiccan but was raised in the christian tradition. I know my dad will take comfort from your kindness, nan is not religious but i think anything extra will help. Thank you honey, i am very appreciative of your kind act for a stranger,xx
Hi firewatch, I will go tomorrow and light a candle, as a wiccan you must believe then in nature and possibly reincarnation, so you will be able to gain some peace and strength from that. I am going off of the computer now, but will be thinking of you, please take care and keep the positive thoughts, Ray xx

Night Ray, your name sums u up, a ray of sunshine to make me smile!x
Hi firewatch, just wanted to say Im sorry to hear that and hope all works out well for her, take care x
My love goes out to you x My nan passed away 2 yrs ago, she too was my world, my second mum!
I worked in specialist rehab for 2 years and have experience rehabing elderly people following aortic rupture and repairs.
I must tell you tho, as you know this is serious, and many people dont survive, BUT some do!!!!
Its a complex and hard recovery and she will need alot of support and will take a long time, but with love and encouragement then she will do it!!
My mother in law and her partner are preparing for their hand fast this year, and i have listened to him explaining about wicca which is fastinating, so as you also know, if the worst that you fear does happen, remember where she will go... I hope that thought is a comfort to you x Bless x
Hey firewatch,

My thoughts are genuinely with you and your family at this time. I know how important grandparents are. Hang in there, stay positive and hope for the best.

And I know loads of people have said this already, but she could not be in safer hands. I hope you get to see her soon.

xx
Firewatch I will add your nan to my prayer list. I am a great believer in the power of prayer and when I go to church on sunday I will ask the priest to remember her too.

Whatever religion or belief anyone holds I do believe that actions be they prayer ,lighting candles or just positive thought can bring peace.

Bless you for being so caring and bless your nan and bless too Ray for being such a lovely person with a good heart
Sorry to hear about your Gran and hope she makes a good recovery.

You do sound like a lovely Grandson, wish my sister's kids were like that towards my mother, they would be just hoping she has left them some cash in her will and the sooner the better.
Sorry to hear of your news firewatch. Keep in touch with the hospital until it's possible for you to visit. Everyone'll be doing the best they can for her. x
firewatch my heart is with you loved my nan she died when i was 14 years and i felt lost , i do hope they make her well

lots of love
mamya x
Firewatch, you & your Family and of course your dear Nan are in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Never give up hope - where theres life theres hope. Like somebody else said with todays advances in medicine nothing is impossible. (They docs always give you the worse case scenario) The most important thing right now is that your Nan is comfortable and not in any pain. xx
