I was'nt sure where to post this. Every time we go away we bring back a souvenier for our lovely next door neighbours and vice versa. They went to Egypt 2 weeks ago and brought us a pretty bottle of different colour sands, love that. They also gave us a Tuten Ka Mun (sp) copy of his death mask. Now I have a "Thing" about death mask's so I have'nt hung it up yet and I cant see myself doing it either. I dont want to offend our friends but I hate the mask. Any suggestions? TIA.

lol I did think of that good but we pop in and out of each others houses for a cuppa and natter. We have'nt got together lately, they've had the lurgy. I know she's going to look to see where the mask is when she does come in. What to do eh?

My hubby said that trt but I would feel a bit guilty cos we did'nt pay for it. Thanks all the same.
dont put it in the charity bag!! if it ends up in a local shop and they see it they'll either 1- figure out you were lying or even worse 2- buy it for you as a replacement!
LOL @ sophie, can you imagine getting it back ha ha
don't mention it to your neighbour, then if she says owt just say it broke, like goodbyegirl says!!! Don't act all sad though or you'll end up with another one!!! I would'nt like one either, sounds weird having a death mask in your house :0
Havn't you got a relative from away that is desperate for one to use in an am dram play? You could always say you were helping them out. or ask your neighbour if it is ok that you send it to them to use.
The play could be called something like; 'The Lucky Mask.'
Keep it in a draw then when you visit your neighbour, wear it.
sounds like you are good friends so I am sure you could just say to her you have bad feeling about the mask and they will understand?
put it up in your bedroom...let her come an have a look..then once shes happy, remove it... i'm assuming she doesnt go in your bedroom often...
or do you have an office...? say you wanted to put in in work to brighrtn theplace up a bit...

Thanks all for your suggestions. I suppose I could say its upstairs as the only place my friend goes is to the toilet. Other than that I'll say it broke into pieces and could'nt be glued back together. I could'nt hurt her feelings by telling her I hate death masks, she's too good a mate. Im wondering if she.s ever got rid if anything I brought back for her..lol
Don't tell her you've broken it what if she goes back there and buys a replacement? I'd hang it in a room upstairs like has been suggested and show her it once and then take it down
Close your curtains and keep your lights off for a week. Then give them the mask back and tell them that you loved their stories so much, that you took a last minute holiday toi egypt and bought them a mask back as a gift cause you loved the one they got you.
LOL @ Whiskery Ron and Sophie. Keep the Mask in a draw/attic/cellar and put the Sand Bottle in Pride of Place in your home. 1 out of 2 ain't bad!
