To show appreciation?

What can I get for my professors at the Uni to show thanks at the end of the semester? They're so cool and I want to do something. Something small, not too thoughtless and not too expensive. And not too final in case I should get one of them in a future semester. What would you do?

Really basic suggestion and this might not work if you have loads of professors, I think that the nicest thing to receive would be a but a hand written letter thanking the Prof by name for what specifically they have done (helped you out with a difficulty, given an inspiring teaching on ..., introduced you to a new author or aspect of the subject, etcet)

I work in the health service and while the chocs and biscuits are nice, a letter saying for instance "I can walk again because of you" hits the spot every time

How about a thank you card? I'm sure you can buy personalised ones from clintons etc for your tutors. Or maybe a blank one may be nice too, with your own words inside?
