I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a picture or descriptions of where the body's pressure points are.  This is not so much for acupuncture but as self defense and would be useful in doing my Ju Jitsu.  Thank you in advance.

My partner learnt them whilst learning Ju Jitsu, he lots of books but off the top of my head I wouldn;t know which ones. Maybe if you google Ju Jitsu books, or have a look in your local library they will help. Surely the instructor will teach you those things safely when you reach that part of the programme though?

You would be better off speaking to your Sensi. As a matter of respect towards your Sensi all questions regarding the position and use of these points should be directed to them.

When I studied Ju Jitsu my Sensi provided only the higher grades with pictures of these points. This was for safety reasons. We were shown various points that if used on the wrong person could cause serious problems. For instance there is a point on the leg that can be used to immobilise a person, but if used on a pregnant woman can cause them to miscarry.

You are learning a very dangerous form of martial arts, that should be treated with the same respect you show your Sensi.

If you have to ask outside your Dojo, then you are not ready to know. Until you can control yourself, you cannot control others. Roger
I didn't think there was much  jiu jitsu around ....(heard from a Sensei that WWII had taken lots of the masters) ...Anyway.... think of twisting the joints of the body the wrong way and u have a great part of the art.... Positioning ur body and weight distribution is what it is all about.... U can buy a Karate strike points poster in many large sports shops.... If u are worried about being able to defend urself...  always be ready to make a run for it..... and if u have to fight ...dont lose! (these are the words from my old Sensei..) Good Luck....
The web that has no weaver is an excellent book when looking at the meridians and is for self defence stuff
