Not sure where to best post this , Just having a discussion at work, There is lots of different religions and each have their believes what will happen to you when you die, Now im pretty sure when you die we all have the same fate whatever it is and whatever religion you believe.. If this is the case then there are thousands of religions out there that are wrong about death and there for could be wrong about any other believes they have for their religion. If so many people have got to be wrong in the world then why do we believe in the religion that we have grown up with from our parents. Why not say "too many people in the world have got to be wrong to make my religion correct.... Does this make sense ?

i am sure we all have the same fate and all go to the same place, i think we grow up and believe what our parents teach us.. and every so often we question it and change paths.fanatics such as the jehovah witness and the mormons are very controlling and it is difficult for the children growing up to make their own decisions and break away, and if they do escape then they are treated like lepers,, so it is very difficult, you are right their are many religions with a warped sense of what is right, and yes they are probably wrong, at the end of the day we are all going to the same place, i know quite a lot about spiritualism and as a clairvoyant myself i have come to know that some people struggle when it is time to pass over...for example the jehovah witness believes when he dies he will be resurected on earth with all the other witnesses, so when he wakes up in the spirit world he cant accept it and is then kept seperate until he does      accept, also when we pass over their are many planes to go on,someone that passes over after suffering a long illness sometimes go to spirit hospitals, until they recover,,i personally dont believe in any god just father sky and mother earth,,i have looked at religion and came up with the same answer as you thhey are all different theorys and who is right, i do believe their are energys greater than us, and it doesnt make me a bad person that i dont want to be brainwashed by any religion. also look how many wars their have been over religion it is just silly every one has the right to make their own choices without harming others, and fighting over religion well no one ever wins,  i see religion as a controlled enviroment and i am a free spirit and shall remain that way,,,mullein
Donkey - who is to say what the true religion is and what happens after we die? As long as there is freedom of thought, there will be different religions because people will have different beliefs. Mullein - you DO have a religion, and you DO SO believe in a god (in the sense of a Higher Power or powers). You just don't agree with the traditional image of a big man in the sky watching over you. But you're still a believer.
I reckon that assuming there is a god and a form of afterlife, whoever this god is will look at a person's overall life and make the decision to their future based on whether they were basically good or bad. I'm coming at this from a Christian background, and I think that the number of prayers you say, or whether you kneel down, face a certain direction, stand on your head or turn around three times while putting one foot over your shoulder is completely irrelevant. If you are a good person the you'll be okay, if not then you won't.

thats not actually true of course. if you dont believe in god you go to hell. from a christian perspective.

its all rubbish if you ask me.

'Man, a being in search of meaning'.

That's sort of what I was saying. Who's to say which religion is wrong and which one's right. If you just try to do good stuff instead of bad stuff, any reasonable god would look at you favourably.

hammer, who is to say what is good and bad., different religions see somethings as good which others see as bad.

How can we possibly know?! Of course large groups all over the world have different ideas, just as they have different appearances through evolving in different ways. We do tend to believe what our parents tell us, at least at first. And if you live in a community with strong religious beliefs, it won't necessarily occur to you to question them. The thing that is interesting is that so many people DO hava a faith. Just like there are different breed of cats and dogs, different strands of religion have evolved.

All you can do is do what you feel to be right. Nobody can prove you are wrong. If you have a faith or you don't have a faith, it is right for you. If it helps you in your life, then great. If it helps you be a better person, or guides you, then that's fab. But there is no way of knowing who has hit the nail on the head and who has it totally wrong, so it has to be a personal choice.

what if it is a negative influence?

There is no God, there is no life after death. It is reasonable to assume that the same thing happens to everyone after death - nothing worth mentioning.

What you posted was, in my own humble opinion, the biggest load of codswallop I have read in AB - bar none (and there is some serious rubbish in some areas)! WALOB, in fact.

"i know quite a lot about spiritualism and as a clairvoyant myself i have come to know that some people struggle when it is time to pass over" - WHAAAAATT???? Are you serious? You are so well versed in claptrapology that you have come to know that some people don't like dying? Uuuuuuhhh??? Maybe you meant to post this in a jokes thread?

All religions carry basic truths but are often a matter of interpretation.  I think that is because the basic ideas are true, but give you space for expression, learning and creating your own belief patterns, not blindly following others.  It does not matter who is right or wrong, follow your heart and have the courage to live by it.
