You may even come across people you know or if childrens services, maybe your kids know. This information is sensitive and confidential. And as you would not be part of the clinical team the exact details of problems will be none of your business really (sorry if this sounds rude) so shouldn't be commented on, discussed etc. You communicate only the information you are allowed to. What and who you can tell things should be covered in an induction. But if its for an interview, then basically you need to state that you understand theres very sensitive information involved and you will adhere to trust policies of confidentiality, not discuss patient details in front of other patients or divulge information that isn't necessary. You would always refer to a clinician to handle such queries.
