Put simply, laxatives make your body expel food quickly, before it can be digested and the nutrients extracted. Therefore, as nutrients are not being absorbed from food, the body is forced to use its own 'back-up' stores of fats and carbohydrates to keep going. This causes weight loss.

Although laxatives are used by people wanting to lose weight, this is not recommended and can be dangerous (quite aside from the fact that the side-effects are extremely unpleasant!)
Plus the fact that if you keep using them, your bowels can't work properly without them, which as you can imagine would be VERY unpleasant!
