I have several friends who are all funny, smart, fabulous company and look gorgeous. We go out on a fairly regular basis to different bars but none of us ever get approached by men.We have now concluded that we are unlikely to meet potential partners on the bar scene.I'd be interested to hear how and where everyone else met their partners?

if you are really gorgous some men think they havnt a hope in hell so dont bother, i met my gf when i changed the wheel on her car :)
My partner & I went to school together from the age of 4, lost touch when we left school and met again in a local pub when we were 25 - we've been together 10 years.  What I was going to suggest was something like Friends Reunited in order to get back in touch with old school friends, maybe organise a school reuniun?  You never know where it may lead.......  Also a divorced friend of mine has tried internet dating and met quite a few nice fellas (I stress nice 'cos of the stigma that's attached to internet / blind dating, which thankfully seems to be almost a thing of the past - they've all been quite "normal!!!").  That's another option.  You don't state your age, so don't know wether either of these ideas appeal??  Good luck....!!! xx

I think some men are intimidated by gorgeous women and maybe they think you are having a good enough time on your own company? Also in my experience, mwn don't want women to be funny and self-assured. THEY want to be the funny ones.Women who are small and girly are more likely to be approached! Why not go out in a 2, and spend more time eyeing up nice men, looking interested, rather than in a group who all look like they have enough fun as they are?
try making the first move or one of you go to the bar at a time in a diff area of the club/pub. give the poor fellas a chance to get at least one of you alone, they are intimidated by a load of women together!! - or so my brother says so. sorry my pal here says i need to say there is always the same sex too. she was going to hit me!!
Well i am living proof that you can meet a partner on the bar scene, I met my fiance in a nightclub, after he first seen me dancing in a bar earlier that night, but he didn't have the courage to come up to me in the bar coz he wasn't drunk enough. But he had a few more and approached me in the night club and we've been together three years now!!
I have a couple of long-married girlfriends who met their husbands at the bar years ago, so it does happen.  I met my husband via a fan club we both belonged to.  We'd seen and partied with each other on a friendly, social level for several years at fan club conventions and such, and then one year, somehow, we suddenly "clicked."
I knew my husband for quite a while before we got together.  We met through being part of the same group of friends and were often at the same social gatherings.  I was actually attached to another when I first knew him.
I met my wife in the nightclub where we both worked. I was a DJ, and she was a barmaid. She liked my voice first, and the sight of me in a suit (after I'd been to a funeral!) and I liked her intelligence, and her long legs. We've been together twenty-four years now, and married for eighteen.
I think if you are expecting to find your special someone in a bar/club, forget it unless that is where you like spend your time. Just live your life the way you want and someone will appear. I like to eat (I'm surprizingly not overweight) and I met my wife in a deli. She no longer makes sandwiches for me but we have been married 8 years. I'm hungry.

My husband was originally my landlord... I was taking my time moving to Berkeley, traveling around the country first, and while I was traveling I met some friends of his, who told me he was looking to rent out a room in his house to help pay the mortgage.  They promised to give me his number, and then the subject got changed and they forgot.  A couple of days later, my friend and I were about to get back on the road, and my friend drove the car into a ditch, so we had to wait for an hour or two to get it pulled out.  Finally, we were about to drive off, and my husbands friends ran up and gave me his number at the last minute, just as we were leaving.

I'm normally shy, and wouldn't usually call someone out of the blue like that, but it was my birthday, and I felt a bit reckless so I called him.  When I got to Berkeley I met with him, and moved in a few days later.  6 months later we got together as a couple.  8 years later, here we are!

One week-end in 1963, I was staying with my brother & sister-in-law. I had been washing up & my sis-in-law asked me to put the clean milk bottles outside on the doorstep. My brother was on that doorstep chatting to his 'friend' who lived next door. As I put the milk bottles down, I glanced up at his 'friend' & as our eyes met, I got butterflies in my stomach! I shot back into the kitchen to ask sis-in-law who this friend with jet black hair, swarthy skin & gorgeous eyes was.

Two weeks later, I went to visit my brother & sis-in-law again & when I turned up, there was a note on the front door reading 'Collect key from next door, we've had to pop out, won't be long'. I did this & guess who answered - yes, the boy who gave me butterflies in my stomach. He asked me if I'd like to go to Battersea Fun Fair & although I was really shy, I replied 'yes'. Along we went to the fair, shared our first kiss at the end of a wonderful evening. We married a year later & the rest is history. (I later found out that he had told my brother that he fancied me too & the note was a set up by my brother & sis-in-law!)

Aww, smudge, how sweet!
Met my wife (friend for 4 years, girlfriend for 5 years, married for 2 months) in the pub. She was the sister of a good friend of mine who I drink with. She worked away so didn't see much of her until her navy boyfriend done the dirty on her and she moved back to her mum's. So my answer would be, keep as wide a circle of friends as possible and something will turn up eventually :o)

Battersea Fun Fair eh Smudge.  I spent many happy hours there as a youngster.  I originally came from Wimbledon.

Well fancy that FP - shame BFF it's no longer there!

Another coincidence is that years later when chatting to Mum, she told me that she met Dad at a fun fair in 1926. They married in 1931, went on to have ten children, me being the 7th! They were married for 63 years, until Dad passed away in 1994! (P.S. Dad always worked & was in no way a Chav!).

I met my fiance through a colleague in a nightclub I go to regularly, he was my colleague's best friend. I had to approach him though cos I don't think he would ever have talked to me. Maybe that's the answer.
met my guy at a nightclub i used to go to nearly every weekend. We worked out we must have been on the same night so many times before but had never seen each other. I don't understand how this could have happened cos it's not a very big place (Metros on Oxford Street, in case anyone knows it) and i am SURE i would have spotted someone that gorgeous! I'd been single for about a year and that night had declared i was giving up as there wasn't anyone worth pulling. Anywhere! Then, during the night, our eyes met across the dancfloor.... how cheesy is that? But that's what happened! So i was eyeing him up, dancing close to him and even 'accidentally' bumped into him but he wouldn't come to talk to me. Ususally i am ok talking to guys i like but i suddenly got shy and didn't know how to approach him. at the end of the night he was hanging about and i noticed he was watching me go up the stairs..so i stuck my tongue out at him and left the club! Outside, i was saying goodbye to people and i noticed he was standing watching again and i decided 'what the hey' and went over and told him something like 'i can't beleive i have been eyeing you up all night and you've not even made a move'. And then i kissed him! i think i'd been bravened by a few cans of cider! But if i hadn't spoken to him, i doubt he would have come over to me. So, Bunny, why don't you and your freidns try approaching the men!? x
