tonsilectomy-eating crisps ect?
22 Answers
Why do doctors give you crisps and cereals with hardly any milk once you've had your tonsils out?
Is it just a rumour?
somebody said that they found out that you heal better with crunchy stuff so they stopped giving people jelly and icecream and changed to crisps.
or is this just a lie to scare children?

It isnt that recent a development. Both one of my colleagues and a good mate of mine had theirs out within the last 8 years, and both were made to eat toast, crisps and cornflakes after their surgery. I recall that with at least my mate, they were given ice cream the evening of the op, and then the next morning was toast, and crisps later as a snack.
Yeah but if someone's normal diet is full of mushy stuff then what?
Just tell them that you always eat mushy stuff if your that woried about it.
My dad eats; soggy veg, cereals that have been soaking in milk for an hour and mashed potato.
And hates anything crunchy so they wouldn't make him eat stuff he doesn't normally eat. Saying that though he has already had his tonsils out but i'm speaking hypothetically.

what is wrong!!
you go to hospital - you get c-diff or some flesh eating virus - that's an accident
if you have an op the docs and nurses will do their best to get you through it - if that involves standing on your head - that's what it takes - to be cynical about it - they want your bed ... and you out of it asap
if you are bothered about flavor flecks (?) take some plain in with you.
don't you think it's a bit unlikely they are doing it for a joke ...
how many u-tube films have you seen where the medical staff sit round flicking crisps at some poor schoolkid trying to force down a pringle?
how many sun articles have you seen about our brave boys being needlessly and callously fed toast after having their tonsils out?
the hard evidence is that somebody takes time to toast you a slice of bread because it just might stop you getting an infection and will help your healing
