You poor thing!  Has the pain got worse since you started your antibiotics?  There's probably nothing you can do except to go back to the dentist,  maybe he / she can drain the abscess for you to give you instant relief while the antibiotics are working?  Ring him for an emergency appointment.  Hope that you feel better soon.  :) x

Had this not long back - I got some soluble co-codamol (codeine and paracetamol) and rather then just knock it back I sloshed it around my mouth a bit. It seemed to numb the gum a little.
I had three abscesses that joined together to make one big'n.  Co-codamol, chilled water and a few [neat] vodka's eased it. Watch the alcohol with some of the anti-biotics, they don't mix too well.  A warm flannel on the outside helped, or a mug that had had hot water in it rooled around the lump.  I feel for you.
daft as this may seem but for toothache and when i am at the end of my tether with it and going uts cos nothing is working, a bit of extreme exercise gives a short relief from it because the adrenaline in our bodies caused by exercise is a natural pain killer

If it is around/on a tooth get the dentist to remove it! The medicine didn't work for me, didn't even make it smaller but getting rid worked a treat! Don't have big hole where tooth was either as the teeth either side spread out over time making gap less noticable.

my wife tried to kill her pain by swilling a whole bottle of my good malt whisky round affected area only numbed it had to have it drained or out to cure it,dentist said it was a waste of a good whisky she should have drunk it.
