Dangerous blood sugar levels

Round about January this year I went for a routine medical and it showed that I have high blood/sugar levels.

I dont take any medication for it and have been given a home testing kit. I usually test myself in the morning maybe once a week before I've had anything to eat. The readings are around the 8.5 mark.

I know that my blood sugars are alot higher than they should be, but are they at a dangerous level? As I'm 40 then I guess if I let it creep up the glucose has years to do its damage.

Sorry....I have re-read your question
Yes, that is a dangerous level and I think that you already know that.

This needs investigating and the next step is to go to your GP and he will suggest a Glucose Tolerance Test.
