Would taking Clonazepam make it more dangerous for you if you got an infection? Or a virus? I guess what I mean is, if you got an infection would you have to take more precautions than someone who isn't taking it?

Also, does it make you more susceptible to getting infections or a virus?

Benzodiazepines do not make you more susceptible to bacterial or viral infections. You would not need to take any more precautions than someone who isn't taking the drug.

Thanks, daffy.

I thought so. It's just I know a support worker for the mentally ill who said it was. One of her clients has a cold & she donned her face mask & whisked him off the Dr, muttering the client has to be careful about getting infections.
Maybe the client has some other reason he had to be taken to the doctor that has nothing to do with Clonazepam. She sounds like she needs retraining.

No, daffy. He's well in all other aspects. He's an ex-alcoholic, (is that the right term?) & the Clonazepam appears to keep him mentally well.

This support worker has worked with mentally ill people for 25 years - no qualifications as such.

More retraining? Perhaps.
Maybe as a recovering alcoholic he managed to damage his liver whilst still drinking? although his doctor would have been reluctant to prescribe such a strong drug to anyone with reduced liver function.
Maybe she is just one of those people who thinks they know it all and won't let facts get in the way of her own judgement.lol

The support worker is the type who wouldn't EVER go into a hot pool because of all the germs you'd catch. Not might catch, mind, would catch.

And if you get a cold, she says you must stay home & get well & take more time after that to get over having had the cold in the first place.

And more of those sorts of things besides.
Ah,I know the type MWB! :)

It was raining today, daffy & I was push biking. I got up to leave & said goodbye to everyone & she said, "haven't you got a raincoat?" It hadn't been raining earlier, so I didn't.

I said so, & she said, "but you'll get wet." Stay with me daffy, pick yourself up off the floor.......... I said, "it's ok, it's not too cold & I'll change out of my wet clothes when I get home." Home was only 8 mins bike ride.

She was horrified. She made it out to be I was setting myself up for getting a chill or an ague!
pmsl! :) Its a wonder she has managed to make it this far in her life..........what with all those dangers lurking round every corner.........and all those rainstorms she must have suffered.
