I have been suffering from very sore and swollen breasts for a few months now and wondered if anyone has any advice as to how to solve the problem.
I am definitely not pregnant before anyone comes up with that idea!!! lol
I am happy with the swelling - I was never blessed in that department:-) but am thoroughly fed up of the pain.

an old fashioned cure for sore breasts is cabbage
put a leaf on your breast it takes away inflamation
hope this works for you. they use it in some maternity hospitals.

Thanks for the answer chookie.....I was rather hoping for advice on something I could take, like a vitamin supplement. My fiance would die laughing if he saw me sat around with cabbage leaves on my boobs :)
have you recently had a baby, been breastfeeding? that sometimes causes sore breasts. have you been checked for mastitis eg

My youngest child is now almost 12 years old blackietwo,so that isn't the cause. My GP has told me it could be hormonal but has offered no solution or relief :(

It is definitely not pregnancy related,my fiance had a vasectomy just after the birth of our son in 1997.
I had the problem for a few years and it was hormone related (pre-menopause) and had to take surgestone a couple of weeks a month.
My cousin who also has the problem says evening primrose oil helps keep good hormonal balance so worth a try.

I am 41 years old so I suppose it could be related to the menopause,I still have periods but they have been quite irregular for the last few years,I sometimes go for 3 months with no period at all. I will try the evening primrose oil and see if that helps.Any idea how long it takes to work coccinelle?
I agree with coccinelle - you could be starting the menopause.

By the way the cabbage leaves do work - but remember DO NOT cook them first !!! (:o D
Hi daffy, like anything it'll take a couple of months to become fully affective.
With the surgestone the relief came after the first month but it is a hormone so understandable.

Thanks for taking the time to reply coccinelle.
I hope the evening primrose works for me as this pain is just getting unbearable now,I am having trouble sleeping as ever time I turn in my sleep my poor boobs get knocked and it wakes me.I also can't wear a bra as the tight fabric just causes more pain.lol
I'd rather not have to take any hormone tablets but if it comes to that and my GP thinks I need them, then I will.
I know what you're going through so I sympathise, let me know if the Evening Primrose works.
