why doesnt one have the right to kill themselves? its their body, their choice, they see no alternative, are very unhappy and no longer want to live. if for example i choose to eat strawberries today then thats my choice, if i decide to kill myself thats surely my choice to and has nothing to do with anyone else as things are relative to the act. your opinions please

you have the right ... the flack starts when someone else "helps"

many however think better once the tabs are swallowed.
overall it's not a rational thought ... we are programmed to survive ... and the lengths some people have gone to to survive are incredible.

if you are talking about assisted death when there is something medical going on I'm all in favour - I see little virtue of many months of agony - just to die anyway

I had a couple of friends who died in terrible agony for different reasons - the morphine stopped working ... and it wasn't in any one's interest for them to continue living...
... but they had to.

You can hardly be prosecuted once you are dead.
It is illegal though.
You can do it when ever you want. Only once though.
Well if I called myself bubbles I would want to top myself after what michael jackson done to me.

He was always blowing bubbles

Why do they call suicides the cowards way out? I would think they had the guts to call it a day and not put extra drain on the NHS who know their was no way they were going to live. When my day feels near I hope I will.

Surely friends and family will be relieved that their loved one is no longer in agony, as they would know he/she were suffering.
i don't know what country you are in bubbles, but in the UK it is not against the law to kill yourself.

it definitely is the choice of the individual, no one can really stop you. (unless assisted, thats a whole other ball game)

however, the void pain, grief, misunderstanding and sadness to family/friends that you leave behind feeling, that is awful. Also why it is often refered to as the cowards way out

I must say that i have had many terrible times, and contemplaited it. My mum attempted it a few times, due to her illness, if she had succeeded i don't know what I'd have done.

i know, if this question is relating to you, that sometimes it is the easier way out, and sometimes feels like the only way out, however it isn't. life does get better, you become a stronger person for dealing with the issues surrounding why you feel like this. Pls dont do anything rash, give yourself time, try to think of positive things (I know, i know, thats virtually impossible), and talk, even if its to the Samaritans.

good luck, time does change things and does get better, even if it seems that it wont.

Qs on counselling, marriage problems, suicide
is it time to take stock and think about seeing someone about yourself?

yes, i just read the one on marrage counceling too! Sounds like you need to do what is right for you, get some head space....... do you have any kids?
Suicide is not about killing yourself, it's about killing the pain.

No thought of family or friends or grief or loss, just pain, and how to stop it.

You don;t have to be brave to kill yourself, or a coward, or anything.

You just have to be hurting enough to need it to stop badly enough, and now.

You just have to be desparate enough, that's all.
It is not illegal to kill yourself - the Suicide Act 1961 made it an offence to assist or procure a suicide.

If someone wants to kill themselves then go ahead. But before they do they should think about the person who finds them, or the friend who has to identify the body or the relatives who will spend years wondering why.

Anyone who is thinking about suicide should perhaps read the MIND guide to suicidal feelings.
