Is going on a sun bed for 6 miunutes a week dangerous. I have obviously heard a lot about them being harmful but just wondered if just six minutes would do any harm.

im sure not everybody who goes on a sunbed will get skin cancer, but the ones that do are definatly increasing their changes of getting cancer by ALOT, if you got skin cancer and were told there is nothing they could do for you, would u think 6 minutes was worth it?? seriously get a spray tan, much safer xx

Sqad says 'Seriously - No problem', but like ummm & onlyme, I would say it could very well be a problem - maybe not now, but in the future.
Always best to err on the side of cauition when sunbathing, whether it be on the beach, out in the garden, or on a sun bed!
My niece-in-law is currently being treated for skin cancer - this is purely from soaking up the sun, not just from strong rays on a sun bed.
Take care.

So sorry to hear you've been affected by the sun's rays too redman & hope you're much better now.
I've had sunstroke twice (only because I feel asleep on the beach after very long overnight journies) & had to have the local doctor visit to treat me. I would never want to go through that again, so am much more careful these days!

Linda...i agree with all the comments above, but I have taken it that you are an adult who is going to a sunny country for your holiday and will sunbathe. You say a total of 6mins, once a week for ?4weeks once a year and your skin is not particularly sensitive to the sun.
On average, 10 minutes of sunbed use has the same effect on the skin as 10 minutes of Mediterranean summer sun.
WHO recommends that you should not exceed two sessions per week, for no more than 30 weeks of the year;
My initial post advice remains the same.
