lung nodules

Just letting you know that my lovely friend got results of bone marrow results which was quite painful - though some you Abers said it was just uncomfortable. Anyway consultant very pleased with the result but she now has to get biopsies of lungs. What is the crack with this - hope to God she is knocked out for these.

She possibly won't be under general anaesthetic for a lung biopsy. In the hospital where mine was done I never even had local anaesthetic. The needle they use is very thin though and I hardly felt anything really.

I had one and because I was so nervous they gave me lots of tranquilliser. Valium I believe. Anyway although I didn't have an anaesthetic I can't remember a thing about it. I could have watched them doing it on a TV screen though. Your friend can ask for a sedative - you do get a choice. I just couldn't stand the thought of a tube being pushed down my throat and into my lungs. There is a bit of bleeding afterwards so expect to cough up a bit of blood for a day ort wo, but nothing dreadful. I was as right as rain afterwards. Mine was obviously a different type of lung biopsy than daffy's.

My first biopsy was done with a very thin long needle through the front of the chest,just above my right breast.

I think that sounds better than having a tube down your throat and into your lungs. Neither are very nice procedures though, but sedatives really helped me. I apparently didn't go to sleep but I don't remember a thing about it.
