My osteopath assured me that my tens machine would be safe to use. You can't use it for headaches, tummy ache, chest pains etc. The problem I find is that I find it awkward to use and to attach the pads in the right place. It does seem to help, but I haven't been using it regularly enough to really notice much difference. Apparently they work by blocking the pain signals to the brain.
I use mine with mains electricity which is necessary for the heat function.. I have to sit almost on top on a socket because the lead from adapter to tens machine is ridiculously short. I have nowhere comfortable to sit to use it. With me, it is such a rigmarole (sp!) to use the machine that I often just can't be bothered. It has two leads and two sets of pads and I get in touch a muddle. In no way can I imagine going out and wearing it! Perhaps I need a smaller, simpler model!!
