Hey Sqad my dear fellow..


Long time no *see*..

Was wondering if i might pick your medical brain, although this question probably not your specialist area...
Went to the doc this morning, where he drained me of 3 phial of blood to test for Thyroid problems. Any ideas what he might have tested for, are there 3 tests, or was he checking for something else as well?

Just trying to prepare myself so i can make more sense of the results when i get them on Friday..

Hi kira - generally they do a full blood count, the thyroid test and one other test depending on what problem you went to him for.

I always ask my GP in depth about any results and always ask the phleb.... pleb........the person who takes the blood what they are testing for. We should talk more to our GP's and they should take the time to listen and explain. Fortunately mine is great!!

Thanks both, sorry i didnt pop back to reply before, i forgot AB doesn't tell me when i get a reply anymore!

In terms of the results, not sure how much info i am going to get. Am instructed to ring on Friday, and if they think there is anything to discuss i'll be told to make an appointment, if they decide not, then no further action.

If i ask, would they tell me the actual tests and results, even if they say they are fine?

If i get anything, i'll certainly be back for some thoughts!
Have to say, other than telling me i'm difficult to bleed, the doc did quite a good effort at taking the blood. Not a bruise in sight. Much better than the other times, when i nurse usually takes over. He he he.

How are you Sqadlet? Glad to see thread going the usual direction :). Nothing changes eh!
