Hi guys, i posted a question on here a few weeks ago about my weird boney lump that was giving me some pain on my hand, so thought id update you, ive been to see a specialist today, he gave me an X-ray and told me it was a carpal boss- & i'm having it removed next tuesday! (there was a cancellation!) im a bit nervous to be honest, its going to be under a general aneasthetic, ive never had one before.. eeeeeek! on the plus side, kinda, i get 5 weeks off work! but apparently i'll be in quite a bit of pain so it might not be as exciting as i think, dont suppose anyone else has had this surgery? or knows someone who has?

I haven't had carpal boss, but I did have Carpel Tunnel. That was operated on under a local aneasthetic, so I was awake during. I hope that your goes ok, hopefully they will give you something for the pain. I think it is better to get it over and dome with.

Never had one but follow medical advice and hope you soon get better

Were you the lady who had a lump on the back of the hand and the diagnosis rested between a ganglion and a carpal boss?

I am not surprised at the diagnosis and the surgery will be straight forward.

Fiona 82, I have a similar lump on my wrist and was going to docs the day I read your post last week, turns out to be a ganglion. Im going to ask around work if they know anyone whos had their carpal boss done.

you take it easy and stock up with loads of dvds, good luck for tuesday. x

My husband had this done 10 years ago. In at 8am G/A home by 1pm. Hand was immobilised in a back slab fo a week at least maybe a bit longer. He was in a bit of pain but had good pain relief. He had physio after, you need to do as they say, don't guard against the pain, and this will be ok. It just takes time to heal.
