What's happening in your body when you get a rush, you feel cold all over and your hair stands on end, when you're moved emotionally by something?

The only rush I've heard about is a peristaltic rush, its a powerful wave of contractile activity that travels very long distances down the small intestine. It is usually caused by intense irritation or unusual distension.
