is it possible for the common cold to raise your temperature to 39 degrees C and lower it to 36 degrees C within one day?

I'd have thought it is possible. It is normal for your body temperature to fluctuate over the course of a day anyway.

Hmm... very unlikely. I've seen fluctuating cases of body temperatures in hospitals but not that drastic. But the human body is filled with mysteries so you can't rule out any possibilities. There are some parasites that can cause fluctuating fever because they generally release their eggs into the blood irregularly. Thus the body reacts to them by generating a fever, but only at specific time intervals.
