The answer is yes. trust me on this one.
I wouldn't know, as it is most ungentlemanly.  However, I am informed that it is methane, which is a flammable gas.
Now FP & others - let's see just see if this gets banned? No offence Starscream - but just tesing out AB Ed's banning techniques.

I have seen on a number of occasions, the more uncooth members of my extended family light their farts. (My wayward Manchester Cousins).

I can confirm that, yes, human gas emissions are flammable. And, when lit, they can also burn a hole in a pair of 1978 Lee Cooper Corduroy Flares.

I hope this is of some help!

Thanks people. I guess I won't be testing it out.

Smuge, this is a legitimate question, everyone breaks wind..........even the Queen and the Pope....hopefully AB editor too, part of being human.

My mate Fergus used to light his in the school toilets....some of which would put a Cape Canaveral launch to shame!!
never do ut wearing nylon underwear!!!

Starscream - yes I do realise that everyone on this planet breaks wind & we'd be in trouble if we didn't! We even have a whoopie cushion in the house somewhere!

I did say in my earlier post - 'no offence to your question', but I am just intrigued as to why so many other legitimate questions do get banned & whether this one would too.

Anyone trying this at home should be aware it is possible that the gas not yet released may also ignite, causing a very bad smell, serious pain and an inability to sit properly for quite some time (and no, it was not me)

http://www.burningfarts.com shows evidence and warnings!
I'd better hide the Swan Vestas on Boxing Day then!

well yer it is flamable and to proove it going and set fire to some cow pats as they give of methane aswel
