coil and heavy bleeding

my friend had the coil fitted a week ago and she told me last night that she has been bleeding very heavily ever since (last period 2 weeks ago). i told her to ring the docs and find out if this is typical of a coil being fitted & do they advise she that she go in, but i know she has a habit of putting these things off, amd i wondered if anyone here has experience of one being fitted.

my sister has a coil, she said at first she got very heavy bleeding but it died down. Get it checked out anyway some people can't have certain types of contraception, it makes things worse, so definately get her checked, also it could have come loose and hurt her inside. is the blood bright red? or browny-red?

No big deal.....treat it as a normal period e.g Ibuprofen etc and monitor the situation for a couple of days.
