Bad Balance

I have got a bit of a reputation for being unsteady on my feet - usually to the amusement of everyone else. Even if I'm stood still on an even floor I could lose my balance - not fall over, but just 'wobble' a bit. Anyway, I was just wondering whether it's literally just just that - bad balance - or whether there could be any possible reasons behind it? I'm sure I never used to be so unbalanced!

Have had ear problems and then had these syptoms? Your balance is controlled by in canals of the inner ear if you metion this problem with your GP he will examine or refer you for further tests. Alot of people have to have tablets for balance problems but usually a little more severe than what you are describing.

I agree balance problems are NOT funny even if other people find it amusing, I know because I have problems myself.

Just a thought here, sometimes balance probs can be caused by ear probs , infections and so on .Get your ears checked with your GP, could be vertigo as well maybe.Good luck .Brenda
I was going to suggest getting your ears checked as well.

I have menieres disease and feel off balance a lot though it can be caused by all kinds of things.

Have you an ear infection recently or anything which could have set some labyrinthitis off?

Always best to get anything like that checked out.
Just another thought, how old are you?

Might be an idea for a general checkup as well, blood count, blood sugar, blood pressure etc...

I have naturally low blood pressure and tend to get a bit wobbly when it drops lower, coupled with a naturally fast heart rate too lol :)

Bring in the menieres and my balance is a bit of a lost cause :)

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I'm 24 Jenna. It's not very bad, and I'm not particularly worried about it at all - but it is noticable. Getting up from sitting down and ending up off temporarily balance randomly yesterday afternoon got me wondering whether there are any things that could possibly be the cause. I suspect it's just me being a bit clumsy. I haven't had any ear problems that I know of. If it starts to bother me I'll definitely go get checked out.

Thanks.
get your blood presure checked I have same symptoms due to low blood pressure
