Ear piercing help please

Hi.

Some years ago I had my ear lobes pierced, after a couple of weeks they started to swell and on some occasions they would weep. I took them out and let them heal then went back several years to get them pierced again only to find out they did the same thing. I've searched the internet to see why this was happening and couldn't find anything, can anyone help me with this? Secondly, is there anything I can do now that will prevent them from doing the same thing in the future? Also, if I decided to get other parts of the ear pierced, what are the chances of it doing the same thing?

ouch....they normally give you some lotion to put on to keep it clean, or you could always use clip ons!

Have you tried other metals ( are they called metals? ) Silver ect ...

I'm not saying that it 'is' the gold, just throwing ideas around. Do you suffer with allergies normally? Hay fever, stuff like that? It may be your body is super sensitive & just doesn't like piercing and is rejecting it? Could be any of the above. Hope you find an answer anyway x

Strangely enough, yesterday I renewed my mascara, same brand, different shade! I went from jet black to brown/black. My eyes have been itching all day & a couple of people asked me had I been crying & what was that swelling above my eye? It's only just dawned on me I'm wearing a new shade of mascara!

Could be an allergy of an infection. Try cleaning the area every day with antiseptic wipes - worked when my first set got so infected that I became ill, I've got several more piercings in my ears, used the wipes, as soon as they were done and never had any problems.

In the experience of people I know who have done it, other parts of the ear are more likely to react badly then the usual spot.
