If this were to get into the blood stream...does anyone have any idea if it is poisonous or not

Chalk is generally considered to be non-toxic, but it contains lead which can mean lead poisoning particularly in children or small animals.

 

The Billiard Congress of America estimates that 46 million people play pool each year, and 90% of billiard tables sold are for use in the home. An entire cube of pool chalk is ground into a fine dust and released into the immediate environment during ordinary use, potentially contaminating the pool table, the floor, and other surrounding surfaces with chalk. When the chalk cube contains lead, contamination easily results. Placing chalk cubes in the mouth, of course, provides a more intensive source of lead exposure.

I had a friend who use to eat chalk. mmmmm i know strange. never did him any harm.

There was a legal case in the US (surprise surprise) where a cube if cue chalk was found to have 8000mg of lead per something or other and they were sued by some family who's sprog dropped a couple of cubes and got lead poisoning or something like that anyway.
