Always Looking Up
22 Answers
If you don't know of me, I am totally blind and when I'm at my pc keyboard I always find myself looking up...why is this? Is it because I have nothing on which to focus i.e. a screen, even though I have a speech system. I'm getting fed up of all these stiff necks I keep getting...even as I write this! Ta Muchly.

Hi woodelf, as a follow on to Mamyalynne's post - I noticed you had a shed load of volunteers to read to you but you wanted to take it one at a time. When you've worked your way through them all - give me a shout and I'll be more than happy to help out. Apparently I'm a frustrated actress, so it should give you a laugh if nothing else :) x
Blimey!...what a response and where to start?...well, Hi again 20 SC, I've been totally blind since 1979 and it's okay Tambourine, I was thinking of wearing a flat cap with a brick tied to the peak!...and M, I now have three readers who are going to do some erm reading lol but I would like to accept Karen's offer if Karen would like to email me at [email protected]. Molly, the speech system reads everything back to me and I can check out the spelinj letter by lettur lol if need be.I don't think one sense takes over when another sense is defunct and I seem to remember sighted people when thinking looking upwards...oh well, I guess it's the flat cap for me...smile...and I agree M, there are some great people out there in AB land.
From a website on lying:
When asked a question a "normally organized" right-handed person looks (from your viewpoint, looking at them):
Up and to the Left
Indicates: Visually Constructed Images (Vc)
If you asked someone to "Imagine a purple buffalo", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Visually Constructed" a purple buffalo in their mind.
Up and to the Right
Indicates: Visually Remembered Images (Vr)
If you asked someone to "What color was the first house you lived in?", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Visually Remembered" the color of their childhood home.
To the Left
Indicates: Auditory Constructed (Ac)
If you asked someone to "Try and create the highest the sound of the pitch possible in your head", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Auditorily Constructed" this this sound that they have never heard of.
To the Right
Indicates: Auditory Remembered (Ar)
If you asked someone to "Remember what their mother's voice sounds like ", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Auditorily Remembered " this sound.
Down and to the Left
Indicates: Feeling / Kinesthetic (F)
If you asked someone to "Can you remember the smell of a campfire? ", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they used recalled a smell, feeling, or taste.
Down and To the Right
Indicates: Internal Dialog (Ai)
This is the direction of someone eyes as they "talk to themselves".

As usual, the same high impact research from jno...smile...Thanks jno, but too heavy to read on a Sunday afternoon and anyway, if I wanted to lie, I'd shut my eyes anyway! lol and Boxtops, I think you offered before and as I have at least a couple of other books to be read, may I accept your offer too?
no problems, woodelf, I wasn't expecting you to memorise it all (or lie about it). It just demonstrates that what people do with their eyes doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what they're looking at, but may be connected to what they're thinking about. It doesn't actually list 'looking up', but perhaps you could monitor yourself to see what mental operations you're performing when you do this?
Hi Jean, I aint been away, just been popping up in other topics, but it's stil nice to get your hugs and smiles...smile! Yes, I'm still painting and I've started another one of my black and silver paintings this weekend, i.e. a landscape under a full moon; all is in black, with the moon's highlights picked out in silver - or so I hope to achieve!...Big Smiles and Hugs!
