I have to say I think it's wrong and unfair. You obviously think it's wrong because you'd be texting behind your boyfriend's back.
If you really want to, I think you should tell your boyfriend. Imagine how you'd feel if you found out your boyfriend was sneakily texting his ex for the 'gossip'.
I would never want to text my ex, wouldn't even know his number and my husband is my number 1 man/soul mate :) I find it a bit weird when people stay friendly with their ex, but that's just my opinion.

I asked my OH about me and my ex texting. He said it didn't bother him at all. He knew that we split on really good terms....My ex took me out for lunch about 6 months after I got with my current partner. I asked his permission first because it's not something I would do if he wasn't comfortable with it. He was cool about it...

Last time we were out I bumped into him, gave him a kiss and cuddle and introduced him to my OH...and they had a cuddle. That was funny.

I'm actually friends with a few ex's. I never hide anything though.

it depends. if it is purely in the spirit of friendship and not a ploy to get them back then its ok, its not really up to you to choose his friends though...
