Has anyone had this happen to them. You are in a deep sleep, suddenly you hear the phone ring which wakes you up but its not ringing, its in your head. Or you hear someone you know (like your partner) calling you (not someone dead !) and you wake up, but no-one is there. Is there an explanation for this ?
Maybe it was one of your Grandad's old friends up in Heaven Garmard (if you believe there is a Heaven)?
I'm not afraid of dying, having sat with someone when they took their very last peaceful breath, but I'm scared stiff of getting old & of being buried!
Hope smurfchops doesn't mind us chatting away......
So do I Garmard - those thoughts got me through when I lost both my parents. I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing them again one day, for a cup of tea.......
So is there any connection with your spiritual feelings and choice of avatar (sorry I have a vague memory that someone has already asked you where it is before)
That is an incredible story, Garmard, and I hope you're right.
To be honest, Im terrified of dying, my experiences of losing people close to me , especially my dad, haven't been very peaceful and I hope somebody was waiting for them on 'the other side'.
I often dream about them & that things are just as they used to be, only to wake up to reality - heartbreaking when you think they'll be with you forever....
Hi yinyang - I also used to be terrified of the thought of dying, that was until I sat with my dearest old neighbour when she passed away.
My heart was beating really fast, as I was a scared of what it would be like for her at the end, but her husband was with me & I didn't want him to see my fear. I took deep breaths & was quite relieved when she finally fell asleep forever - 'specially knowing she was at last free from pain.
Hello, smudge, lovely to see you here again. Hope you and the family are all well.
Your neighbours passing does sound very peaceful. Dad was on his own when he died - mum and I were out organising flowers to be sent to his mothers funeral - and when we found him, he looked scared and still in pain. That look, and the guilt of not being there will never leave me,
Anyway, shouldn't be dragging it all up again. There's no chance of me sleeping tonight now!
Thank you yinyang - lovely to 'see' you again too & hope you & yours are well.
I can't imagine how you & your poor Mum must have felt, but your dear Dad wouldn't want you to remember him like that, he would like you to think of him sleeping peacefully now - so please try to do that, not only for yourself, but for him too.
I'm sure you will sleep okay if you try to do that yinyang, so have nice dreams & look forward to sunny days ahead. Nite, nite. -xx-
We're all fine ,thanks smudge. Girls are growing like weeds and loads of fun.
Thanks for your kind words too. It is getting easier to do see dad how he should be and I can remember now how his laugh sounded, which is very comforting. I shall take these happy thoughts to bed now.
Goodnight, smudge - and everbody else. Hope we all have pleasant dreams tonight.
What I found very disturbing was when I was in hospital I thought I could hear my OH on the bedside phone, telling me awful things, like how much he hated me and that he wanted a divorce. When I eventually was able to phone him( a combination of totalt blowing the nurses heads and not dialing correctly)HE was the one who wondered what was going on.
It was the beginning of a nightmare for me that was eventually blamed on an allergic reaction to drugs.
Messed both our heads up for a long while I can tell you.Horrid.
Thank God I'm not the only one who has strange dreams. Ive had a few the past few weeks and the last one a few days ago, I was with Ferguson and the Manchester Utd team at a charity concert. Everybody was trying to outdo each other giving the most money so Ferguson got us all together and suggested we all give 10 grand each. I and all the players agreed and later on I suddenly realized I didnt have that kind of money and sneaked out the back door : -)
I know it's now Tuesday & this thread is done, but I dreamed our eldest daughter won £1,000,000, yes a million smackers on the lottery last night. It was such a realistic dream, so who knows.....
When I am stressed I often hear the doorbell when I am sleeping. I've got used to it now and just ignore it. I stayed at my sisters flat on the night before my wedding and woke up with the doorbell ringing, I woke her and told her that her bell was ringing and she told me to go back to sleep as she didn't have a doorbell!
I posted few months ago about vivid dreams... They were really scarring me! I too hear things that arent there or my phone ringing in real life ir doorbell become part of my dream!! X
