Hello guys. I am in my late twenties and it seems the older I get the worse my skin gets (acne). I use a wash and moisturiser - have tried a lot of different products. It seems to be mostly a hormonal thing I think.
I have just purchased some Vitamin B Complex - suggested by someone who swears by it for better skin and nails. What did you do to improve your skin?
I do have a poor diet, which won't change much - picky eater unfortunately, I am trying to implement better foods etc... and have been drinking a lot more water also.
Also I have to be at an appointment Friday and I have the worst spot which has erupted into a virtual horn lol - very swollen, I have used TCP on it - any quick fixes you swear by?
See your doctor, he may prescribe roaccutane (vitamin a) and or antibiotics to reduce the level of activity and infection.
A chemist will be able to sell you a small pot of poultice paste - magnesium sulphate, which is good at drawing out spot and boils, put it on covered with a plaster overnight. Get micropore tape which will peel off again easily unlike ordinary plasters
Can you not put a small plaster on the bad spot for your appointment? A small flesh-coloured patch might be less self-conscious for you than the spot? I agree with Ann, a colleague's daughter was put on roaccutane and it did wonders.
Lol it is smack bang in the middle of my forehead - like a horn, the swelling is ridiculous - I took an antihistamine, just in case it was a bite. Nothing changed yet. I am going to make a docs app when I am back on my feet properly.
I am not so sure about the roaccutane - after some quick reading online it sounds pretty harsh, side effects are really bad. I know they are not a definite for everyone but it sounds a little scary lol. Will see what the doc says when I get chance to go.
Have you tried the pill dianette? I was prescribed it for my acne when I was a kid and it was amazing. It's a contraceptive now and I would still take it if the local clinic prescribed it, it's also a treatment for my PCOS... I can't recommend it highly enough.
China Doll - I haven't tried it, but I do know about it and have been reading about it. I am hoping the doc sympathises with me and prescribes something to help. I have been on the pill before (for contraceptive reasons) and it made me very ill - so I stopped.
Go to your GP who will probably prescribe antibiotics at first, Roaccutane would be one of the final measures. If antibiotics don't work you will probably get Dianette, and see how it goes. Good luck.
Panoxyl cream is really good for one off big spots, and It's only a a about £3 over the counter. Don't do what i did and put it all over your skin though as it contains bleach and will bring you out in a rash!!! if you have any marks that spots have left just put some sudocrem which is found in the baby section on them when you go to sleep, it wil help to take the redness away.
The pill is a really good long term soulition as well, it's really helped my skin. Good luck for your interview sweetie xx
