Have recently been put on cholestorol lowering tablets... do they make a lot of difference from the first tablet or is it a slow build up over weeks and months for them to start working?

They are slow working. I take 20mg of Simvastatin each night and have done for about a year. My cholesterol level is slowly coming down, but you do have to watch you diet also. I have a blood test and see my GP with the results ever y 3-4 months...

You would normally expect to be retested after a month and then three-monthly if the numbers are going in the right direction. I guess thet don't work instantly.
