Contact lens handling tint

Hi

Just bought some contacts which have a green/blue handling tint. Silly question but i ve not opened them yet but which way round does the tint go and where is the tint, is it the whole lens of the edge.

Not really sure what you mean but lenses with handling tints are completely coloured most commonly with a light blue colour. I don't understand when you ask which way round do they go. Surely the provider of your lenses will have discussed and demonstrated these lenses.

I think what you mean is the light blue tint that's embedded in just the edge of the lens... makes for finding it in cleaning solution easier as well as helping find it if you drop it. Actually, my opthamologist tells me the lens (especially monthly or daily replacement types) lose the tint over a period of time and be used to tell when they should be replaced. Additionally, it helps in determing if the lens is "inside-out"...one site says "look at the edge of the lens; the tint should be darker when you hold it the right way. It will not look that way when it is inside-out".

It's the first time I've heard that the handling tint colour depth can tell you when to change your lens to a new one. Surely the calendar is a better method or in the case of a daily disposable the fact that it's in the bin is a better one.

The handling tint is so you can see the lens better and makes handling easier.

sorry, its the first time i have used this lens, i bought them online.They are better than the ones i usally use.I understood that one side was tinted to indicate which way round they are, so was asking which way round they sound be

so you're using a lens that wasn't actually prescribed by your contact lens optician and your on line provider has just given you an alternative lens without assessing it in your eyes to make sure its ok. this is actually illegal in the UK but never mind. also how do you know its a better lens. probably because the provider told you.

do you mean you're not sure if It's inside out or not - if so phone or email your on line seller and ask them. also if you have any problems with your eyes wearing lenses that weren't prescribed for you ask them to look at your sure using a web cam.

I just hope your eyes don't start bleeding and fall out.

Only stressing the point to be careful as you don't want to have avoidable problems with your eyes.

The tint can help define the edges better to help see if the lens is inside out. It will have a sharper point to it if its the wrong way. Generally, 99% of the time, the way they are in the case when opened they are the right way. I presume you are using daily disposable lenses as these are the more difficult to assess which way they are. Especially the cheap daysoft ones.

You'll know immediately if you placed it in your eye 'inside out'... the pain will be a dead give away. Before attempting, look at the lens on the tip of your finger... the lens should look like a cup (or "U") not a saucer with the edges flairing...

hi

i bought the lens online, i provided them with my perscription first as required by law. My opticians recommened these lens as a better ones that the Boots premium which i was using, but were very expensive.I declined and found the same ones online at just over half the price.So they are the ones prescribed, just didnt buy them from boots
