What the best way to clean crud from under your fingernails?

I decided to grow my nails butwhen i went rowing today I got all crud from the broads under them.

I use the end of a sharp knife.

I've just washed part of the kitchen floor with Ariel gel and a sponge and that's got my nails lovely and clean.

lol sandy - why do men always do that - well at least all the men i know!!

I have sensitive hands I have to wear gloves when washing up etc and using harsh chemicals (even diluted ones)

Embroidery scissors are my secret tool. Dig your nails into a bar of soap before you go out doing dirty things, the soap keeps the dirt out until you next wash your hands.

We haven't got little scissors or a nail brush and I don't like the idea of using a knife.

yes I use small pointed scissors or my letter opener LOl

I tend to use those coloured thin latex gloves if i'm doing anything dirty..... keeps my nails and hands clean...

Get yourself some of those pointy nail clippers - the 'pliers' type that chiropodists use. I find the pointy end works wonders and you also have a decent set of clippers for 'normal' use'.

Failing that, a good stiff nailbrush, hot water, plenty of soap and plenty of scrubbing. Then treat your hands to a nice, moisturising hand cream (Avon's Shea Butter one is good).

well, uh, nail scissors? Using the tips of the blades? They won't be as sharp as sandyRoe's knife, but sharp enough.

My nail scissors came with a metal nail file, which i refuse to use as a file but its great for getting dirt out from under my finger nails
