anyone had a knee replaced?  How did it go-How are you now? when did you have it done?

Not had it done(yet!) but have seen a lot as I work in the Op Theatre.

Usually takes anything between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the skill of the surgeon, type of knee replacement used(different firms make their own specific types) etc.

Talking to people who have had one and are returning for the other side to be done they all appear happy enough with their new knees, with no particular problems reported.

Loathe to answer this one, dickie10. As I'm sure will everyone who doesn't want to give you negative feedback.

My mother in law had both knees done, one went badly wrong (I think it was the one where they replaced only half the joint).

My mother had a full knee replacement two and a half years ago at 78, she got over the op very well and walks very well, but she can't bend it quite as much as before, and is a little slow going up stairs, but at 80 she does does very well.
