I've recently had a "Friend springclean" due to too many arguments and problems and am looking to meet new friends to expand my social circle which is at almost zero at the moment. As a good loyal friend I have a lot to offer. Do any of you know any sites which are free where I can meet new people?

Welcome to answerbank. As I'm sure you know, newcomers are welcomed warmly here and I'm sure you'll make many online friends here.
Meant to add- have I seen you on SAB?
I would suggest looking in your local paper for groups that meet up.. you'll be wanting local(ish) friends, I assume :o)
And Ab can open up new worlds. I just looked on sports answerbank and found I had friends on there I didn't know I had!
Someone called Legend-Lives talking about me.

Thanks for your answers factor30 and sara. Factor30 I'm not sure exactly what sab is and by ab I'm assuming you mean here?
Sara thanks but I prefer meeting people online.
The nicest things come in small packages! My lists are small but invaluable :)

tamborine?
I mean it's better to choose than look for friends.
FYI Cheekymonkey, SAB is Sports Answer Bank. Some of their members pop on here from time to time in different guises, although it's not actually part of AB.
Anyway, you've made a good start or your first day here on AB, joining in on quite a number of posts. I said what a welcoming bunch we are!
welcome cheeky monkey

And welcome BlackSailor to Answerbank. I see that like Cheekymonkey you have made yourself at home and got involved in several threads on your first day here. And you certainly 'say it as you see it' judging by your response to cheekymonkey's thread.
with friends, i find that it is quality vs. quantity. plus - if you a have a good few in your circle, you can spend better quality time with them a develop deeper friendships...x
Oh, I see BlackSailor has gone already- joined, made several postings, seemed very 'at home' on AB, and was then removed all in the space of a few hours.
Some manage to keep just under the radar, but many get spotted quickly.
BlackSailor's comments towards you haven't put you off AB have they, Cheekymonkey?
friends springclean, when´s the next one due?
We'll never know. It seems the Ed has done some spring cleaning of his own as CheekyMonkey has been suspended.

He or she had certainly been on AB before but the posts seemed inoccuous to me and I'm not aware that they said anything that merited suspension.

I can only assume, therefore, that Cheekymonkey was recognised as a 'front' for a permanently-banned user.

I'm not quite sure a suspension achieves anything in the long run- if it was a banned user will almost certainly reappear (probably already has) using a new name or using one of the many 'sleeper' identities I am sure he/she has.

Maybe it's better for the moderators and Eds to turn a blind eye in these cases unless something offensive is said?
