I've just been diagnosed with the above foot problem by the Dr and was wondering if anyone here has suffered from it and could relay the treatment or the way they have dealt with it..

Thanks

I've had it...pain killers, inserts for my shoes, and patience... eventually it seems to disappear... ice packs help too
I spent a month walking as little as possible. couldn't take time off work but thanks to OH, I spent every evening and weekend with my foot up, not putting weight on it and resting. I also changed my shoes and wore ones with soft supportive insoles...eventually i went over to crocs almost entirely which sorted the problem like magic.
Mine was misdiagnosed as a very severe sprain and I spent 6 months on crutches before going to see a sports injury specialist privately. Two visits - £80 - voila!
Poor you! It's a pretty debilitating condition while it lasts. Mine was bad for several months. Calf stretching exercises were the treatment my doctor advised. Basically, he suggested doing a kind of press-up against the wall and standing with my toes on a step, heels not supported, and pushing down gently with the heels. You need to feel the stretch in the calves.
I also got myself a wobble board which I used every other day for about three weeks, for about 5 minutes at a time.
I'm not sure whether these things cured the problem or if it would have cured itself in time anyway. However, I'm still doing the stretching exercises every day and I use the wobble board when I think of it in an attempt to ensure it doesn't come back!
same as woof, I bought a pair of crocs, voila !
Crocs may not be elegant, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anything that deals with this painful condition so quickly and so completely !!
Ouch! Mine lasted for 6 months and was really painful. I now have to wear orthotic inserts in all my shoes as apparently my arches are in danger of falling. I get leather ones sent over from Oz as the ones here are too rigid and make my feet hurt even more. It might be worth getting your arches checked. Meanwhile foot-stretching and ice packs do help somewhat.
steroid injection and shoe inserts under my heels; no recurrence.
they should promote the health benefits of crocs more
I don't know anything about crocs really; how do they help?
Tigerlelly - The entire shoe, being somewhat plasticised, acts as a cushion against 'heel-strike' to a greater degree than the 'waffle-inserts' that fit inside normal shoes.
they give your foot the right kind of support, I was in agony for months with plantar fasciitus, by chance I bought some crocs to wear around the house and they cured my condition! not to mention that thay are very hardwearing and uber comfortable.

slightly hard on the eye though ..
I think I'll get some then for tootling around the house. Any particular make or is there just one 'croc'?
The original shoe is copyrighted under the name 'croc' and, naturally, are more expensive because of that.

However, there are many cheap versions (which is what I bought - £ 4.99, made in China, I think) and these ought to work just as well.........
I bought these

but I notice they do medical ones now, the above pair did the trick for me though
Thanks cazzz - I'll definitely try them.
i´ve had the above condition for ages now, funnily enough i live in spain, and have noticed a lot of people wearing these " crocs " . must give em a go. mind you i think i´m doomed, i have fallen arches, f
need to take a bigger size in shoes now
I got given voltarol cream after the tablets didnt work, it didnt work either. I went for a course of physio which did not seem to be working either so was eventually given steroid injection. That was a couple of years ago now - sometimes feel the pain but know to do the stretching exercises that I learned at physio and it calms down so does not affect me now.
Please can you explain what foot pain you had with Plantar Fasciitus? I have very very painful soles of feet when I walk or use them; my feet hurt when I even wake up. They feel inflamed. But the pain is kind of all over the areas that touch the floor- not the heel. It is a general pain like you have walked for 25 miles and just stopped, and then tried to walk again. Any ideas whether my problem is the same as yours?
in my case Scarlett it was a sharp pain under the arch of one foot rather than a generalised pain.
