Cataracts and lasik surgery

I have recently been told by a gentleman that works in a lasik eye clinic that once you have lasik surgery to correct astigmatism, you can never have successful cataract surgery. Is there any truth to this? And if so, why? Thanks a million!!!

As far as I understand there is no surgery that can correct astigmatisms.

Thanks for responding, but you didn't read the question, or answer it. Anyone out there know if you can have successful cataract surgery after having lasik surgery? I'd prefer an answer from a professional.

PS, I have been wearing glasses since I was 18 months old and my optician told me in October 2004 that surgery would never correct my astigmatism you incredibly rude, rude person.  I wish I hadn't bothered.

I'm a bit loathe to answer your question after the above rudeness, but anyway...
-I asked my optometrist, a Harley Street practitioner, about getting laser eye surgery, and he told me of the proportion of patients having permanent damage to their eyes, and suggested that I wait until they perfect it. Boots just withdrew the service due to unreliability of the machines and subsequent liability.
-If you have any eye focus problem, the procedure by which most cataracts are corrected allows for the insertion of an artificial lense behind the cornea.

If I told you I was a professional, would that make my answer bear more weight to you? If you want professional advice, don't go to the internet for it. Mind you, I wouldn't rely completely on the advice I got from 'professionals' either. LOL.
