Fear not those that harm you for they will surely get their come uppance.
I always think of the words " This too will pass". I've no idea where they come from...but saying this always makes me feel better until whatever it is goes aways.

"all shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well" Dame Julian of Norwich

I'm not religious myself but I often use the old "count your blessings", mantra. I mean no matter how bad you feel, there are millions in the world worse off. Say to yourself:

Am I starving? Am I homeless? Is my country ravaged by civil war ? Assuming the answer is no, you don't have much to worry about.

Just because you're paranoid dont mean theyre not after you - always brings a smile to my face, whilst in some small way excusing my insanity.

I've seen the light at the end of the tunnel. It's an oncoming train.

Seriously, whenever i get really stressed about things(money, life etc) i make myself try to think about it in more of a sense of proportion. i.e "Ok, so i owe the gas company 100. But is anyone actually going to come around and break my legs over it?"

My saying is:

"Worse things happen at sea".

This has surely been proved in the last few weeks.

I just think to myself 'Laughter is the best medicine'. (Unless of course i'm having an asthma attack and then it's Ventalin).

"That which does not kill us, can only make us stronger"

"Eagles may soar, but weasles don't get sucked into jet engines" :o)

Words have no wings

But they can fly a thousand miles.

How about an old Chinese proverb as Confucious would say 'Man with holes in pockets will feel cocky all day'. Only kiddin, Smudge I love yours but your scrapin the old cheese barrel there bless you! On a serious note me and me old Irish Gran would say, the same as Obonio, 'Fear not those who harm you (Physically/Verbally or mentally) whithin this earth or another. To reverberate 'what goes around comes around'! Jeez I like this weba your a good bunch.

My 2 favourite quotes:

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. - Theodore Roosevelt

Come what come may
time and the hour pass through even the roughest day

Helps me to remember that no matter how bad things are, the clock is still ticking and tomorrow is a new day.

goodsmeister - I'm interested to know why my phrases are 'scraping the old cheese barrel'? There's always one to put the boot in!

One of my other favourite saying is:

'What comes around goes around'!

Smudge darling I certainly was not putting the boot in, and I dont mean any disrespect its just being a male I thought it a bit slushy. Carry on your a great contributor and accept ones apologies. EL D's was a great one from Roosevelt I am in the process of memorising it now.

PS. Smudge it was not both your 'phrases' that I said was slushy it was only the later. The first I think is sound advise.

Oh well, everyone to their own goodsmeister!

Also, the reason I added 'Words have no wings', was because if a person is feeling down & alone, with no one nearby - a letter or phone call can go a long way to cheer them. :0)

My 'mantra' is a very basic one ; We all get down from time to time. Some lower than others. When you hit rock bottom for whatever reason, just remember that you can only go upwards.

let's tell you my mantra - i work 100+ hrs per week running 4 businesses and am constantly stressed.

'Courage, pride, determination - thats what little girls are made of'

it keeps me going!!

oh yeah, and another one when im feeling lazy - very american

'if its gonna be, its up to me'
