Does anyone else do this or does anyone know what causes it or what it's called.

I wake up and start doing things, but then I realise that I can feel the bed underneath me and I know I'm not awake, so I try and get up and it starts again, normally about 2 or 3 times, normally if I've gone to bed for a nap. I can decide where i want to go and do, I have noticed that it was happening not long after me having a baby. Any ideas.

There you go Sal.
I read the newspaper and answerbank in my sleep. I'm obviously making it up in my dreams but it happens quite often.

but i'm aware i'm in bed still, i've even carried on walking around the house but i'm patting the bed knowing i'm still there. You could call it intense day dreaming.
Yes...I know I'm asleep. I must rouse briefly and wonder what the hell I'm doing and drop back into the same dream...
Just sounds like dreams to me. I've had some dreams that were pretty realistic too.
It happens to me. Used to happen a great deal when I worked. Would get up and get ready and then realise I was still in bed. This would happen several times before I actually could wake up proporly. Really infuriating.
properly!!

I think they are just vivid dreams in the state of being half asleep.

Thank you everyone.
I sometimes tell myself jokes whilst sleeping - but when it comes to the punchline I don't know it and feel let down.
Isn't this called 'horizontal jogging' - actually maybe that was something else.
I don't do that much now - but it's significant that you mentioned you've not long had a baby. When my children were little, I was often found to be on my hands & knees in the hallway thinking I had lost them or looking for them in my sleep.

I haven't recently had a baby Sal, last one was 3 and half years ago. Had 4 in all and thinking back i've always had a cot by the side of my bed. Maybe it was my body needing sleep but my mind being on alert for babies. Wont be happening again then, i'm passed it. Tee hee.
