ibrufen dose?
39 Answers
hi all,
im in real pain tonight with tooth ache - back bottom teeth.
i took a 400mg ibrufen tablet about an hour and a half ago, but its not touched it.
can i take another, or do i have to wait 4 hours?
and is a single dose of 2 400mg tabs at one time too much?
im using extra strong oragel and have got a covered hot water bottle resting on my face to try and ease the pain which is now in the side of my face and up into my ear area... :o(

Ooooh I sympathise! I had something very similar last year and one night when I was out in Scotland it was unbearable. I doubt any doctor would ever recommend this but... I ran to the chemist, brought ibru and paracetimal, took 2 of each at the same time and continued to drink the other half of the bottle of wine I was sharing with my friend! Like I said, probably terrible advice but it did work :-/ (I then went to the dentist when I got back!)
Perhaps get some cloves instead, they're supposed to help aren't they?

looby you have my sympathies too as I had this with a wisdom tooth last year and at its worse I was trying to pull the basin off the bathroom wall as I was groaning against the pain. I found Paramol was the strongest over the counter help. Clove Oil too, might be old-fashioned but is available in all chemists and does help numb it. I also found rubbing with a toothbrush helped and also any 'warm' kind of alcohol like brandy, baileys, rum etc! Hope it gets better soon.
