Bubbles on ear drum?

I can finally hear again after having my ears syringed this morning after weeks of being half deaf. Aside from being quite annoyed that 3 pharmasists and a doctor all told me to use things that the nurse today said was probably making things worse, she told me she can see bubbles in my left eardrum. Her advice was to keep my ear dry for a week and if I continue to have problems to go back because I will need treatment but I don't really understand what she meant by bubbles and as I had been with her 40 minutes already I didn't want to keep her any longer. Can anyone shed any light?

milly....let´s get something straight right from the outset:

Nurses opinions on ear drums are basically useless and that goes for many doctors as well.

Nurses advice on the treatment of ear disorders are valueless and with doctors often questionable.

Anything else you want to know?

Yeah, if that's the case why do they waste their breath?
I had severe ear ache last weekend and on Monday went to surgery and asked practice nurse for advice. She looked in my ear and referred me to GP. He prescribed an oral antibiotic and a wide spectrum antibiotic ear spray. Now Thursday morning and ear ache gone. Far as I'm concerned this was down to nurse and GP...don't think I would have got the same result by ignoring it.
McMouse....who is suggesting that you ignore it?

I am suggesting that their opinions are questionable in my opinion.

If you went to a vet with earache, he would give you antibiotics and a spray ( which is the wrong treatment)............so I stand by my original post.
I had grommets in my eardrums and one had come out and the drum healed. I wanted to do a swimming improvement course which would have involved putting my head under water. I went to see the nurse at work to see of the other grommet was still there because if it was, I would put an earplug in that ear. She said the grommet had gone and the drum healed. I went swimming. She was wrong, the grommet was still there and I had the worse otitis media I had ever had. I don`t have a lot of faith either
I lost loads of time of work, went almost completely deaf in both ears and ended up having hospital treatment years ago because doctor prescribed antibiotics which didn't work and then kept prescribing more and more antibiotics. My hearing in one ear is now damaged.
I had a long hard slog to try and get any help from a number of GPs with my ear problems despite a bit pointer (my mum has menieres and I have been getting similar symptoms).

One GP tested my hearing, said it was a bit low and would probably get worse and that was about it. Another one, when I asked for an ENT referral, was incredibly rude and actually quite nasty, telling me there was no way I had menieres. Not long after he got to see a dizzy espisode and couldn't get me on medication quick enough.

I got there in the end, quite a few years later via ENT, neurology (they thought I could have MS) then a specialist ear doctor (friend of neurologist). Result...menieres!
