This is day 3 of my 11mth old being on antibiotics for an ear infection. He is also full of cold and doesn't seem to be getting any better. Now his breathing is all wheezy and he sounds like he's struggling a little. Is this normal for an ill baby or should I take him to docs again?

i'd take him to the docs, but in the meantime try a steamy room to see if you can open his airways a bit - that's what they do with croup, so it may help.
Lay him face down on your lap, with head lower on your knees. Gently tap his back to bring up any mucus. 5mins per session will help his breathing.
Why should a baby with an ear infection wheeze?.....he shouldnt.

Take him to the docs again.
dont likemthe sounds of that I would take him back...Sqad what yoy say....what do you do exactky ?

Right well I've just got him settled for now. I don't know if I'm so exhausted that I'm worrying over nothing. I will see how he is in morning but over reacting or not his breathing appears faster than usual and is definitely noisier but he is full of mucus as he sicked a little up earlier. Thanks everyone.
You'll have to check this out first (maybe squad knows) if you could use a tiny amount of 'vic' I'm not sure of the proper name but i think it's by a company called Vick, it comes in a small, dark blue tub with a turquoisey lid and it's a mentholy goo, if it's safe to use on a baby, you could perhaps sue a smidgen on that on it's chest, it always seems to clear my airways.

carvel capsules are good, just squeeze onto a flannel and hang over the cot will clear his chest up
A human being with a cold in winter in England? Hardly unusual.
Be careful with Vick. Some of us are allergic to it.
It's a baby Hopkirk = kind of different from a person with a cold...

He's still young, call the out of hours doc, if you think he's struggling, get down to A&E
I've brought up two kids, and the docs never seemed very worried when they had colds.
