My friend has hurt her back and went to see the GP who put her on Tramadol 50 mg.She is also taking co codamol 30/500 and still feels in pain. She takes the co codamol for a long standing medical condition.I was just amazed that the GP gave her both at the same time,I thought because they are both opiate based it wouldn't be a good idea.Anyone got any thoughts?

I have taken these both at the same time, I was also perscribes sleeping tablets with tramadol as it usually at first makes you drowsy then keeps you awake, I read you should not take these both together. If she has seen different doctors they may not have checked or the dosage she is on would be safe to take. Ask her to ring the doctors and ask for a telephone consultation with her doctor same day and just ask him over the phone. If she is still feeling pain she may need to up the dose but tramadol can become addictive and also if you work the side effects could cause problems.
Mr mac was on both after an op. The same doc prescribed them and knew he was on both.
... or ignore the dubious advice given by doctors and simply ask a pharmacist.

She is also on sleeping pills and anti depressants.Funny thing she is,she will only see the one DR at her practice,so he knows full well what she is taking.I just worry about her.
Thanks for your answers, maybe I will ask at the Chemist, thats a good idea.
No disrespect to quacks, but the Pharmacist will know much more about the drugs and their interaction.

Oh! dear oh! dear
All I know is that cocodamol causes terrible constipation (well in me it does anyway) so I dread to think what 2 drugs cause!
