Do you still find yourself having dreams about when you were at work? And did you enjoy your life then, and is it better now?

I stopped working over 10 years ago and still dream about it. I enjoyed my working life and do not find retirement particularly stimulating.
Yes I do and to be honest they are full of anxiety and more nightmares than dreams. I also dream about being at school and at college and again - full of anxiety.

I didn't enjoy school much, but held down some very good jobs, but was always a worrier.

I quite like being retired. I can do what I like when I like and don't have to worry anymore. I enjoyed work to a degree, especially the social side - but no way would I want to work again. Just think I wouldn't be on here now!! (although it seems that a lot of people can work and be on here. I never would have had time when I was working!! - I was always too busy :o( )
McMouse - there are plenty of stimulating things you can do when you are retired!!!
i have never dreamed about being back at work. i loved my job but when i left i slammed the door shut behind me and didn't look back once. life moves on although it took a little while to get used to a new routine. i have never wished to be back at work and would say my life is better now.
what about you carlton?
LL.......most of the stimulating things that interest me require decent health.
I was medically retired in 2003 at the age of 40. I had been ill for a long time and I was dreading not having a job. I had been a civil servant from the age of 16.

I have had a few dreams about my work but nothing specific. I do voluntary work a couple of times a week and I enjoy this very much.

But I have become very lazy and have put on much weight. My life is better though because I don't have to worry about not being able to go to work when I am feeling unwell.

My cats keep me busy! ;-)
carlton.....no......AB Body and Soul is about my lot now ;-)

I put everything into my job for about half a century, it dominated my life, I couldn´t live without the "buzz2 that it gave me.....my family always played second fiddle....I knew it and they knew it. I have no recriminations and would live my working life exactly the same again.

Retirement?.....needs thought, readjustment and understanding.......I am not sure that I am the one to comment further.
how long have you been retired sqad?
McM. Don't I know it!! But I have got involved with lots of things I am really interested in now and I didn't have the time when I was working.
I dream every night, sometimes 4 or 5 different dreams.

I took early retiement around three years ago, and often dream of work, or to be more precise, people who I used to work with.

Also, I dream quite a lot about school, but not people I went to school with.
Wolf, I am slimmer than when I was working - obviously because I am not confined to a desk all day (Well, except when I spend all day on AB!!)
Ethandron

10years...I came to our holiday villa 10years ago....rang my secretary, told her to send them a standard letter thanking them for their support and told her that I wasnt coming back.

I retired from the NHS 20years ago and private practise, 10 tears ago.

I am now only too happy to be with my O/H 24/7/52 but I would like to be in better health so that we both could enjoy the fruits of my labours.
carlton...that is lovely.....mrs sqad and me often get on each others nerves as we are together 24/7....but we have solved that by having regular breaks back in the UK separately.

We are not the perfect "soulmates"....LOL....whatever that is?
That's the trouble Carlton, at the very time that you have the time to do things your body won't allow it!! I know the feeling well!! I love walking and on some days I can barely make it downstairs!! However, I managed 3 miles this morning and am feeling very pleased with myself!!
Question Author
Sqad, how sad is that?
carlton...how sad is what?
excuse the intrusion but I think that if you're with one another 24/7 there's nothing to talk about. If you have different interests that can stimulate conversation and possibly keep boredom at bay, that's a good thing.
that's the thing isn't it carlton, having the good health to enjoy it?

Lofty, lucky you, I can only manage a few yards and have to rest.
