Other than hitting them until they wake up, what is the best way to prevent snoring?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.refer to GP, after putting up with this for years, they discovered my other half suffered from sleep aponea ! he now sleeps with a special mask on attached to a machine which thankfully is silent and we both get a good nights sleep.Also there are several products on the market that claim to stop snoring, I once tried sleeping in the spare room but I could still hear the snores especially if he had been drinking.

in reply to the sleep aponea machine being uncomfortable it doent seem to worry him and he gets a much better sleep and no more sore throat in the morning, the machine itself is silent, doesnt keep me awake. Also before, if he got the chance he would "nod off" during the day as he used to wake up tired , this doesnt happen anymore. He does have to attend the sleep aponea clinic every six months, the machine is free but the hospital engineers have to give a maintenance check annually but this is done the same time as your clinic appt.
