Is it OK to use Lactulose only when I am 'having problems' as it were, or should I use the whole bottle, two spoonfuls a day? I am OK sometimes, and don't want to use it when I don't feel I need to.

Well I am sure you are all on the edge of your seats waiting to know the answer ... yes it is for constipation. I don't get it all the time but the odd morning ... ouch. I am on statins so that could be why. I will just take the Lactulose when it gets 'bad', thanks to all of you.
Have you tried Fybogel, very good for constipation and will help to keep you regular.
I am with Honky-tonk. I am being treated for mild IBS and have been prescribed Fybogel(plus medication). Has your GP not suggested a stool bulking agent?
